New Soundflavor website, DJ, and Facebook app!

We are excited to announce a number of new goodies from Soundflavor.

First, we have overhauled our website, Soundflavor.com. Highlights include:
  • Create your own profile page, and share your iTunes playlists
  • Discover playlists that sound like yours
  • Make and save “quick playlists” based on artists or songs
  • Post playlists to MySpace, other websites, or your blog
  • Get to know people with similar musical tastes along the way
Soundflavor DJ users: log in to Soundflavor.com using the same email address and password that you use with Soundflavor DJ.

We have also released Soundflavor DJ 1.30, a major upgrade to DJ that integrates with Soundflavor.com.

Use Soundflavor DJ 1.30 to quickly make great playlists from your iTunes library. With two mouse-clicks, share them with friends via Soundflavor.com. Download playlists from the website to your desktop, and play them back using iTunes. As you use it, Soundflavor DJ will give you free songs that sound like the music you listen to, conveniently downloaded into iTunes.

We’ve fixed dozens of bugs that were reported since our last release of Soundflavor DJ, so we strongly recommend that you upgrade now. Please note that Soundflavor DJ works best with the latest version of iTunes.

Finally, attention Facebook users: Soundflavor is now on Facebook. Our Facebook app helps you get free MP3’s that sound like your artists or songs you like, and to pick songs to put on your Facebook profile page. Check us out at http://apps.facebook.com/soundflavor

More updates coming soon. In the meantime, please email us to know what you think -– we listen!

Soundflavor DJ 1.21 available for download

Soundflavor DJ 1.21 is now available for download.

This version fixes several bugs that have been reported in the past several weeks, including a variety of crashing problems, minor glitches with Windows Vista, and various issues with running Soundflavor DJ on computers with multiple displays.

While this isn't a mandatory upgrade, if you encounter problems with sampling clips from playlists you have downloaded from PlayStrips, pick up the new build -- it should fix your problems.

As always, let us know what you think by emailing us at sfdj@soundflavor.com

Please stay tuned -- we have several surprises in store for you in the coming weeks!

Soundflavor DJ 1.1 is here!

We're very excited to announce the arrival of Soundflavor DJ 1.1.

With version 1.1, you can now post your favorite playlists to your MySpace page, blog, or website using our new playlist widget. Let the world see (and hear) your best work!

Here's an example:

From the Action Menu, click “Post Playlist” and select the playlist you would like to embed in a widget. You can select a horizontal or vertical design, pick your color scheme, and change the number of album covers displayed.

From your widget, other people will hear clips from your playlist and can download your playlist directly into Soundflavor DJ.

We have added a number of frequently requested features. For example, the new build allows you to hear clips for songs that you do not own as they pass through the PlayStream. We have also upgraded the quality of our clips -- they're crystal clear now.

Beyond that, we've created a much simpler (and faster) installer, made several improvements to our recommendation algorithm, and fixed dozens of issues reported by our users.

We hope you enjoy the new version. Please let us know what you think! sfdj@soundflavor.com

Fixes and things

We just released version 1.05 for your downloading pleasure.

The latest version includes background scanning of iTunes AAC files (yay!), support for various DPI modes (those users who use "large fonts" on Windows will be happy now), various tweaks to our song recommendations, and a couple of dozen fixes for speed and stability. Grab it now while it's hot!

For those of you with Macs, please rest assured that we are working on a version for the Mac (honest -- we're not just saying that). We'll be announcing a way for you to monitor our progress on the Mac version shortly.
